Mike and I had lunch with Dante Basco (voice of Zuko & General Iroh the Younger) yesterday. It nice to take a break from the storm and reminisce on the Avatar days and craze, and catch up on the million-and-one things Dante is up to. The guy keeps himself busy. He is on Tumblr too, in case you didn’t know. But if you are into Homestuck, then you already knew that.
I stopped by Ryu Ki Hyun’s office to say hi and saw these cool head studies that he had done on a drawing pad. He told me these were from last year’s Comic Con, before the signing. His wife told him he better practice. HA! In the end they told us to stop including drawings at the signing because it was taking too long, which always makes us sad. Anyway, these drawings make me happy.
AMAZING UNCLE IROH! That’s his daughter as Zuko next to him. She introduced him to the series and talked him into cosplaying. He was really into it though, as anyone willing to carry a tea set around the convention floor has to be.
Our buddy Chandler, the publicist for The Track Team. He’s been talking about this Zuko cosplay for ages! Nice work, man!
P.S. I forgot to mention: I love the girl desperately crouching and hiding her face with the “art of” book. HA! She is like that in a few of my shots. She could have just turned the other way, but this technique draws a lot less attention.
EDIT: Oh, yeah! There are TWO girls hiding their faces with the book. I didn’t even notice the second. Maybe it is a good technique for blending into the background. Private detectives have employed it for ages!
Stinkeye Korra is great, but I also love the Zuko with the scar on the wrong side in the background, mad dogging the camera. He was a nice dude. I didn’t want to point it out. It must have looked right to him in the mirror. Or maybe he was Actor Zuko…? Doesn’t matter, he owned it with that mad dog. “I DARE YOU to mention my scar is on the wrong side.”
