iPad study from an iPhone pic of my beloved Gunther, aka Naga IRL. I could stare at him all day.
30 [INCONSECUTIVE] DAY DRAWING/ART CHALLENGE — 4. An animal you think is really cute.
Sigh… I wrote a big, long thing and tried to post this a few minutes ago, but I guess I took too long to write it and I got timed out or something because it didn’t go through. I don’t feel like writing it all over again so here’s a summary: I’m sick. Jana Schirmer’s Photoshop portraits on her Facebook page are awesome. Here’s a self-portrait I did on the iPad while lying on the couch last night from a cell phone pic of what it looks like when my sinuses are about to explode.
30 [INCONSECUTIVE] DAY DRAWING/ART CHALLENGE — 3. One, some, or all of your friends.
Shooby, Liz Climo’s dog, the greatest friend to me and all (except squirrels).
30 [INCONSECUTIVE] DAY DRAWING/ART CHALLENGE — 1. Yourself or your persona.
I’ve been following Sachin Teng’s mind-bendingly beautiful and clever installments from this challenge for a while now at sachinteng.tumblr.com. Seems fun, so here I go! There’s no way I’ll complete the list in thirty days though, hence the “inconsecutive” addition to the title. I’ll be happy if I get through it within a year.
30 [INCONSECUTIVE] DAY DRAWING/ART CHALLENGE — 2. Someone you like (celebrity, significant other, or crush).
Neko Case, my favorite musician.
I WARNED YA BOUT THEM DOG PAINTINS
My first paying gig after graduating from RISD was a commission to do an oil painting of a family’s dogs. I loved it and have always thought if my animation career goes belly up I would be happy doing dog paintings all the time.
An inaugural random sketch of no one in particular using my new toys: I finally gave in and joined the Korra Crew Cool Kid Club and got an iPad, a Jot Touch pressure sensitive stylus, and Procreate.
EDIT: I suspect with these tools at my disposal I will henceforth be making and posting a high and frequent number of sketches of my dog sleeping. Prepare to unfollow me.
