Spent the evening in the mothership with Jeremy Zuckerman.
Activision reveals The Legend of Korra game release date & new mode, plus the cast & creators delve into Book 4 & the big Book 3 finale.
Four cool videos over at IGN:
1) Interview with Robert Conkey, the producer from Activision on the upcoming Korra video game, which is to be released on October 21st!
2) A bunch of gameplay footage of the Pro-bending mode in the game, with Rob explaining everything in voice over. Dude… I can’t tell you how cool it is to see this sport we created in all of its chaos and fury––without us having to draw it. They even have the tiebreaker face-offs!
3) Interview with Mike and me about the ending of Book 3, the video game, and some tiny tidbits about where Book 4 is headed (TINY ones). I was really sleepy.
4) David Faustino (Mako) and Janet Varney (Korra) talk about love.
Thanks to the fantastic folks at IGN for having us!
Korra Book 3 finale is online right now! These are some backgrounds from this season and some comps from the finale. I did the paint. layout was most likely either Angela Sung or William Niu.
Sweet, Fred’s on Tumblr now! I’m putting the finishing touches on the Book 3 Dark Horse art book right this moment, which includes most of Fred’s incredible paintings above, and many more from him and our other magnificent painters.
Another GIF from the Korra season 3 finale.
More beautiful animation- I love how she twists as she takes off that rock pillars’ top.
There were some
insaneawesome shots in both episodes and great choreography for the action sequences.
This whole exterior action sequence between Korra and Zaheer is co-executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos’ storyboarding/fight choreography masterpiece, especially the 20-plus-second continuous flying shot. It was a herculean undertaking, and he had some help cleaning up a few of the scenes by Owen Sullivan (on this one) and Shaun O’Neil. If you didn’t already know it, Joaquim is a force of nature when it comes to action animation!
Korra book 3 finale.
I think I forgot how to breathe a few times. Studio Mir did some absolutely awesome, gorgeous work. Thank you whole Korra crew!!!
I like this GIF as the sequel to my last post. I also love how buff Korra looks in that incredible animation. THAT is how she is supposed to look in every shot.
Thank you, Johane! I would also like to give a huge thanks to the Korra crews at Nick in Burbank, and in Seoul at Studio Mir and Studio Reve for a stellar season and finale. And thank you to the fans! Thanks for sticking with this show after the bumpy ride in Book 2, and the hide-and-seek network shenanigans this summer. Keep cursing the Bryke for making you feel the feels and smell the real poop. We’ll be back with Book 4 as soon as possible. Hopefully it won’t be released only on smartwatches or some other inane platform.
P.S. My umbrella term “in Burbank” failed to cover all the amazing crew members in greater LA, particularly Jeremy Zuckerman and his epic score, Benjamin Wynn for his sound design maelstrom, Aran Tanchum and Vinny Quisetti for their top-notch foley work, all of our martial arts consultants, and many others in our post production process around town. It takes a village!
The best part of Fridays! Click here to watch Book 3 Episode 10 “Long Live the Queen” on nick.com now!
New episode up! Poop is getting real.
Apologies if I was a “certain people” person. I’m an old man in Tumblr years and don’t always operate this blogosphere apparatus properly. Man… I should have posted at the top to drive that point home. Anyway, another fun GIF from motorcyclles!

BTW, I’m getting really tired of people reposting my artwork, even more when certain people who you’d expect they would be more careful, end up giving more attention to the repost than to the original source. It is disheartening to be disrespected again and again and again.
This is partially an excuse to draw Opal’s Amelie hair ♬
I recently learned that we raised $6,531 for One Fund Boston, the charity for the victims of and families affected by the Boston Marathon bombings, with the Avatar/Korra art auction at the Montserrat College of Art in May! THANK YOU to everyone who bought the prints, everyone who bid on them, and all the great folks at Montserrat who worked hard to make the art show and fundraiser a reality. I am deeply moved by your generosity for a great cause.
Me and my friend when we watch the new episodes of Korra
Last one! Unfortunately, none of my cosplay pics from the Activision party turned out due to the harsh lighting on the roof, but I did snap this one on my phone at the Dark Horse signing. AMAZING Knitted Spirit Caps & Carrot Spirit! I looked up the color model and was extra impressed at how accurate they are.
