season 3 brofist woooooooooo!
season 3 brofist woooooooooo!
We had a fun crew screening last week of the 1-hour finale of Book 3. This will likely be our last such gathering, as the designers’ last day on the production is sadly tomorrow (which ended up falling on the Book 3 premiere), and the background painters are finishing up a few weeks behind them. In typical Korra fashion though, we still have an inordinate amount of work to do before they leave! DON’T GO! *sniff* I love this crew. It is bittersweet, because at the same time I am VERY HAPPY about the pre-production finish line fast approaching.
We had a fun, impromptu lunch with *most* of the remaining Korra design team yesterday. After a long haul, we are in the home stretch with preproduction (design/color) on the Book 4 finale episodes. I’m going to miss these incredibly talented, friendly, and funny folks when we finish in a few short weeks. Left to right: Steve Hirt (clean up/add. prop & char. design), Christie Tseng (char. design), Melissa King (BG paint), William Nanqing Niu (BG design), Emily Tetri (BG paint), Christine Bian (BG design), Jojo Aguilar (prop & add. BG design), Mike, Lauren Zurcher (BG paint), and me.
my profile page for an upcoming collaborative sketchbook GIF Club! The book will be sold at Anime Expo!!
As you can see here, we are very lucky to have William Nanqing Nui as a background designer on Korra.
I showed up at work last weekend to find this back-lit movie poster thing had been installed in the parking garage.
Beautiful vocal version of Jeremy Zuckerman’s Legend of Korra score! Check it out!
Incredible! Such a sublime rendition by the Audire Soundtrack Choir at the Berklee College of Music (Jeremy Zuckerman’s alma mater) featuring spoken word by Dante Basco.
It has been ages since I’ve had the time and energy to mess around with any digital painting, either on the Cintiq or the iPad. When I was digging around old files last night I came across a barely-started portrait attempt of Korra that I had based on a storyboard drawing of Ki-Hyun Ryu’s. I put a little bit more time into this evening, feeling rather rusty! That said, painting human faces is always a huge challenge for me, no matter how much I’ve been painting. Here is a detail of the work in progress.
Awesome cosplayers at the Fandom Society Cosplay Ball last night!
Getting excited for the Fandom Society Cosplay Ball tomorrow night! Hoping to see some cool Avatar/Korra-related costumes. I stumbled upon this great Korra in Chi-blocker disguise online here. Love this!
I made this as a thank you card from my dog to a friend. I think it is pretty much my favorite thing I’ve ever done.
Christine Bian just forwarded this great cosplay shot to me. Those noodles look good right about now…
