Janet Varney & PJ Byrne backstage at NYCC.
Our creators ladies and gentlemen.

Janet Varney, the illustrious voice of Korra, has a stellar podcast called the JV Club where she interviews an amazing variety of women in the entertainment industry, focusing the discussions on when they were teenagers. She had some fellas on for a change this summer, and Mike and I were honored to be among them. Check out the link above to listen. Thanks, Janet!
P.S. Mike’s hair was pretty sweet, huh? That was me towards the end of my senior year of high school, at my last rowing regatta.
Activision reveals The Legend of Korra game release date & new mode, plus the cast & creators delve into Book 4 & the big Book 3 finale.
Four cool videos over at IGN:
1) Interview with Robert Conkey, the producer from Activision on the upcoming Korra video game, which is to be released on October 21st!
2) A bunch of gameplay footage of the Pro-bending mode in the game, with Rob explaining everything in voice over. Dude… I can’t tell you how cool it is to see this sport we created in all of its chaos and fury––without us having to draw it. They even have the tiebreaker face-offs!
3) Interview with Mike and me about the ending of Book 3, the video game, and some tiny tidbits about where Book 4 is headed (TINY ones). I was really sleepy.
4) David Faustino (Mako) and Janet Varney (Korra) talk about love.
Thanks to the fantastic folks at IGN for having us!
Here are the intro slides I made for our SDCC Korra panelists. I had a very narrow slice of time in which to make them, but had a ton of fun in doing so.
Hoarding water bottles “backstage” in the Nick Booth with the Korra panel guests.
Janet Varney learning the lyrics and melody to “Secret Tunnel” in the Nick Lounge with Mike as her vocal coach.
Tight quarters “backstage” in the Nick Booth at SDCC with Janet Varney and Dee Bradley Baker. Thanks for being such a stellar panel audience, everyone!
Happy dance! We’re heading to San Diego Comic Con for a Book Three panel on Friday, July 25 and it’s going to be AMAZING!
Hey, guys! The Korra SDCC panel is on Friday, July 25 at 11:15 am -12:15 pm, Ballroom 20. Mike and I are super excited to be joined by Korra panel veterans Janet Varney (Korra), Seychelle Gabriel (Asami), and David Faustino (Mako), and first-time Korra panelists Mindy Sterling (Lin Beifong) and John Michael Higgins (Varrick). We’ll be showing a new, never-been-leaked Book 3 episode, and some other cool sneak peeks. Mike and I, along with various special guests, will be doing three signings (that I know of) during the convention. More info on all of that soon. Looking forward to seeing you in San Diego!
The Legend of Korra cast is going to be hosting a panel at the San Diego Comic Con on July 19th from 11:15am - 12:15 pm in Ballroom 20!
Hmmmm… what do you think we’ll be discussing at the panel?
There’s Janet Varney (voice of Korra), Kevin Coppa’s Korra puppet, and some Dust Bowl-era Okie who bears an unsettling resemblance to me at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. We are beyond excited about this year’s Korra events and offerings at the Con and we’re glad Nickelodeon has finally started revealing some details about it all. We really hope more Korra fans can make it into the panel in the cavernous Ballroom 20 this year. See you in SD!
Just had a fun DVD commentary session for Book 1 with Janet Varney (Korra), David Faustino (Mako), and Mike (Mike).
The Dream Team!
At first Mike and I were included in this photo shoot, and then the photographer diplomatically asked, “Can we try a couple without the producers?” Unlike that No Doubt video where the photographers only want to shoot Gwen and the dudes sulk over to the shadows, Mike and I said, “ABSOLUTELY!” and we ran away, relieved.
(We did a fun, live interview for ew.com too, but I don’t see it archived on the site now. I’ll post it later if I get a link.)
Here is a shot Mike and me with Janet Varney, the amazingly talented voice of Korra, at The Legend of Korra premiere party this Saturday, April 14. Here is a fantastic interview with Janet by Max Nicholson on IGN: page 1 and page 2.
(I can’t recall who took this photo, but the camera was Mike’s, as was the processing. I’ll be uploading a bunch of shots from the party soon.)
