We had (in our opinions) a *HILARIOUS* Korra Book 1 DVD commentary session with Jeremy Zuckerman (left; music) and Benjamin Wynn (right; sound design) of the Track Team. If you heard the commentary we did with these guys years ago on Avatar, then you know what I mean when I say we continued the tradition.
Hey, folks! Are you all frustrated that Nickelodeon still hasn’t released a soundtrack from Avatar: The Last Airbender? I know I am! Well, one solution to this problem is to join an orchestra and perform Jeremy Zuckerman’s beautiful scores yourselves!
The New Orleans Volunteer Orchestra performs ‘Peace’ from ATLA.
This made me teary-eyed, partially due to hearing this particular piece of music again, but also because this amazing group of people dedicated their time and talents to this. Great work!
Colin Heck just brought this to my attention: Jeremy Zuckerman’s Avatar: The Last Airbender score… in the Olympics? Or at least what looks like an Olympic qualifying event? For synchronized swimming? This seems real. And if so, why didn’t we know about it? I have no idea how they got the music. But hey, that’s really cool! Yay Brasil!

Here’s Jeremy Zuckerman (composer) with Chandler Poling, who does PR for Jeremy and Ben’s company, The Track Team. Chandler is also working hard on an impressive Zuko cosplay. I look forward to its completion!

This was a spotting session yesterday for music, sound design, and foley. We comb through the sequences of each episode and discuss the themes of the story, the psychology of the scenes, the emotions of the characters, possible instrumentation, which sonic element will be the focus, etc… Aran Tanchum (pictured center-left), is our longtime foley editor (and recent four-time Golden Reel winner) who handles the recording and editing of all the naturalistic sounds with a foley walker (the one who performs the sounds). Ben Wynn handles the more stylized sounds, like the bending effects. Jeremy handles the music, Oliver makes sure we’re doing our jobs, and Mike and Tenzin rock the shaved heads. (Jeremy and Aran are also in an awesome ’60s-style funk band, Cousin Junebug.)
Hanging out With Jeremy Zuckerman of The Track Team, at his studio tonight. He’s hard at work on the luscious score of Korra.
