One more Chris P post: Chris is, in his own words, “attempting a blog.” If you’re a fan of the Beavis and Butt-head Do America movie, or even if you’re not, you might enjoy this uncut version of the absolutely insane hallucination sequence, which Chris animated. I would have surely hallucinated after trying to animate that. Read more about it on Chris’s blog here.

Sorry, I was mistaken! Motorcity premieres tonight. (I had seen the free iTunes download a while back, but I’m not sure if that is still available.) Here’s a little behind-the-scenes video with my old buddies Chris P and Eric Coleman.

EDIT: Sorry again! Looks like the free episode is still on iTunes here.

TITMOUSE’S 7TH ANNUAL SMASHING PARTY
Yep, a smashing party. Every year (or so), Titmouse builds a cage, loads it with weapons, and invites all their friends to sign waivers and bring objects they want to smash. It’s a bit dangerous, and the chemicals released from a lot of the electronics are incredibly unhealthy to inhale. But it is undoubtedly fun, even if you don’t smash and just watch the madness.
The first time I went I smashed a giant, ancient TV with a lead pipe. The second time I went the vapors were burning my throat and I vowed never to return. But this year I couldn’t resist, and this time they handed out masks and it was held in a much bigger area, so it wasn’t too bad. I only brought my Canon, which I didn’t want to smash, so I just took these pictures instead.
KIDS: Don’t smash stuff. It’s dangerous and unhealthy. Just grow up, get into animation, become friends with Chris P, get invited to Titmouse’s Smashing Party, and smash in a safe-ish, controlled environment.

The legendary Chris P, the nicest man in animation, married to the nicest woman in animation, Shannon. Together, they own Titmouse Inc, with studios in Hollywood and New York, that makes more animated shows, shorts, and commercials than I can count.
They have an amazing new series which Chris created called Motorcity, which premiered tonight. The remarkable thing about this series (beyond its apparent remarkable qualities) is that it is animated almost entirely in the U.S. That is no easy feat for an action show, especially one as insane as this. And this wasn’t something they pulled off overnight: Chris, Shannon, Juno, and everyone at Titmouse have built this production pipeline and developed their own software and unique animation techniques over the past decade or so. I love working with artists from all over the world, but I would prefer to work with them all under the same roof. Titmouse is out there on the front lines fighting the good fight, trying to figure out a way for that to happen here in the States.
Back in the day, I worked with Titmouse on the opening title sequence of Avatar: The Last Airbender (along with my friend Andy Dill, who did the CG/composite work). I’d LOVE to work with Titmouse again. One day, when we somehow find the time…
